5 Drugs commonly Abused by Youths

Hard drugs are becoming a norm in the world we live in today. While some may just be a normal drug abused by youngsters, others are deadly drugs that have led to the death of lots of youngsters and Entertainers.

Some take these drugs because of pain, depression, trauma etc. They find happiness in taking it and hence become addicted.

These 5 substances below are commonly abused by youngsters and entertainers

1. Percocet

Percocet is a brand name for an Oxycodone/acetaminophen drug. This combination is mainly used to reduce severe pain. It contains a narcotic pain reliever called (oxycodone) and a non-opioid pain reliever (acetaminophen). This drug wasn’t created to be a hard drug, Infact it comes with a doctors prescription for safe use but an overdose of it can result in severe damages.

Percocet is often seen by youths as a safer way to get high because it is legal to purchase. They mix the drug with either Sedatives or Alcohol. An addiction of Percocet can result in a change in behavior, Dizziness, nausea, blurred vision and eventually Death.

2. Promethazine

Promethazine is a drug used to treat issues like Insomnia, used to treat allergy symptoms such as rash, itching, and runny nose. It also helps other pain reliever work fast.

Since it’s legally sold, it is commonly abused among youths and even some adults. It’s overdose could result to Drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, blurred vision, or dry mouth. Worse effects include  fainting, slow heartbeat, mental/mood changes (such as hallucinations, nervousness, irritability, restlessness, confusion), unusual/uncontrolled movements (such as fixed upward stare, neck twisting, tongue movements), shaking (tremor), difficulty urinating, easy bleeding/bruising, signs of infection (such as fever, persistent sore throat), severe stomach/abdominal pain, persistent nausea/vomiting, yellowing eyes/skin.

3. Xanax

Xanax is a trade name for Alprazolam; a drug used In managing anxiety disorder. It is used in depression cases mostly with the doctors prescription. Xanax could lead to seizures if you suddenly stop taking it after been on high dose for long time. Doctors usually prevent seizures by slowly reducing the dosage, from Little to nothing.

Side effects includes: Drowsiness, dizziness, increased saliva production, or change in sex drive/ability.

4. Adderall

Adderall is a combination medication containing four salts of amphetamine. Adderall is used in the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder popularly known as ADHD. It works by changing the amounts of certain natural substances in the brain. Its side effects includes: Loss of appetite, weight loss, dry mouth, stomach upset/pain, nausea/vomiting, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, fever, nervousness, and trouble sleeping.

5. Codeine

This is the most abused substances in this generation. Codeine is a prescription pain medication(narcotic) used to treat mild to moderate pain. It works in the brain to change how your body feels and responds to pain. It’s side effects includes Nausea, vomiting, constipation, lightheadedness, dizziness and drowsiness and at worse, Death
