We May Have Fourth Wave Of COVID-19 – Sanwo-Olu

Covid-19: New mutation of Delta variant under close watch in UK - BBC News

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has stated that there is a chance of a fourth wave of COVID-19 because the state’s borders would be opened to everybody in December.

Sanwo-Olu made the remarks on Wednesday during the opening of the Lagos State mass immunization campaign on Victoria Island.

“There is possibility for the fourth wave of COVID-19,” he continued, “since our borders will be opened to all those arriving in Lagos in December.” To avoid the disastrous disasters that occurred in earlier rounds, the state has launched a vigorous immunization campaign.”

Sanwo-Olu also announced at the occasion that the state planned to attain the objective of vaccinating 30% of its people.

“To mitigate against this potential damage that will further spread existing variants of COVID-19 in the state and accelerate efforts towards herd immunity, the need for a different strategy became a front burner issue. This is what has culminated in the campaign tagged, ‘Count Me In! Four million Lagosians Vaccinated against COVID-19,’ to target the full vaccination of four million Lagos residents before the end of December 2021.

“Once achieved, this will bring the state closer to reaching our promise to vaccinate 30 per cent of our population within one year.”
