Adewale Tosin, who is a yahoo boy, was sentenced to clean the court premises for six months by a High Court in Ibadan on Friday.
Tosin was punished by Justice Bayo Taiwo after pleading guilty to scamming an American man, Lylian Zamarippa, of $2,400 by impersonating a girl named Zielone Nyson.
The offender must perform community service from 8 a.m. to noon every working day, according to Justice Taiwo.
The judge held.
The convict will serve two years imprisonment if he fails to show up for the community service or arrives late on any of the day, even if it occurred at the last day of the service.
The convict must refund the 2,400 dollars to the victim and forfeit his SUV car, laptop and iPhone to the Federal Government,
Mr Festus Ojo, the prosecuting counsel, told the court earlier that the prisoner committed the crime between February 2020 and January 2021.
The offender reached a plea bargain deal with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), according to Ojo, who asked the court to accept it as the court’s verdict.
Mr. M.A. Rufai, the Defense Counsel, had asked with the court to change the sentence to non-custodial or a fine alternative.
